VMC announces project architect
While the fundraising campaign continues, project planning got a jump start in September with the announced that The Design Partnership LLP had been selected by the County of Santa Clara to provide architectural and engineering services to the Women and Children’s Center project. Because this project intends to engage dozens of community partners during the design phase, it was essential that a master architect be in place to ensure consistency through the building and compliance with the myriad of rules that govern what can be done in an inpatient medical setting. The Design Partnership comes with a long resume in the health care field, with previous projects at VMC, Stanford, UCSF and more.
Their appointment represents a significant milestone for project planners. While the total project budget has not been raised, enough resources have been secured to begin planning on the 5th floor of the future Women and Children’s Center. Home to the inpatient Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, this area will be the first to see improvements thanks fundraising efforts.
